Free Pet Loss Support Resources

Gentle, evidence-based tools to help you pause, grieve, and accept in your own time.

Welcome - and well done for showing up for yourself.

You’re here because you’ve loved deeply — and lost deeply, too.
At Pause for Paws, we honour that courage. Taking time to care for your pet-full self is an act of strength and self-compassion. When a beloved pet dies, the loss can feel overwhelming. Pause for Paws offers evidence-based psychological support to help you move through grief - gently, at your own pace.

Because Pets Are Family

Our animal companions give us some of the most honest, nourishing relationships we’ll ever know.
They cut through the noise - the roles, pressures, and expectations - and meet us exactly as we are.

So when we lose them, it’s not “just sad.” It’s disorienting. It shifts the rhythm of our homes, our routines, and even our sense of self.

You may feel angry, empty, or simply numb. You may wish things could go back to how they were. This space is here to help you through that - with gentleness, structure, and real support.

What You’ll Find Here

Pause for Paws is Australia’s first clinically designed, self-guided grief support program for individuals navigating the loss of a beloved animal companion.

Rooted in lived experience and evidence-based psychology, our approach helps you:

  • Pause and process your emotions

  • Understand your unique grief response

  • Reconnect with your values and daily life

  • Find meaning and peace at your own pace

Our free resources draw from the full Pet Fullness Program — a structured, stepped-care program designed to support acceptance at your own pace.
Each stage — Loss, Adjustment, Gratitude, and Acceptance — offers practical, compassionate guidance tailored to your needs.

Grounded in Care. Built on Evidence.

At Pause for Paws, our approach aims to blend behavioural strategies, creative reflection, mindfulness, and compassionate psychology to help you rebuild life after loss. Each resource is crafted to help you rediscover moments of calm, connection, and comfort — the gentle building blocks of emotional recovery.

Because grief is not something to fix; it’s something to honour.

Our mission is to transform pet loss into a pathway for growth, self-compassion, and gratitude. We believe every goodbye deserves real recognition and real care. You don’t have to rush, and you don’t have to do this alone — we’re here to walk beside you, one gentle step at a time.
